My First Paycheck When I Was in Class 11 💸

Hey there, welcome to my blog! Today, I’m super excited to share a story that's really close to my heart — the story of how I earned my very first paycheck while I was still in class 11. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t a lot, but the feeling? Unmatched.

The Dream Every Kid Has

Growing up, I used to believe I’d be a millionaire one day. You know the usual — big house, fancy car, and all that cool stuff. But as I got older, I slowly started to realize that life doesn’t work like that... not unless you’ve got a plan, skills, and a whole lot of effort behind that dream.

Then Came Lockdown: A Blessing in Disguise

Entering the global COVID-19 lockdown. While the world was going through a tough time, for me, it turned out to be the perfect opportunity to explore something new. I had all the time in the world, and I decided to dive into something that had always fascinated me — computers and tech!

I started with the basics, clicked around, watched videos, read articles, and then one day I stumbled upon programming. That one word changed everything.

My First Steps Into the Digital World

I started learning HTML, CSS, and made my first static website. It wasn’t much, but for me, it was a huge win. Slowly, as life began returning to normal, I couldn’t stop myself — I wanted to do more.

That's when I discovered game development.

Old Laptop, Big Dreams

Back then, I had a pretty old laptop, so I did my research and found that Unity was a good fit for low-end systems. That’s when I was introduced to C# programming. From that point on, YouTube became my classroom and game tutorials were my textbooks.

I found out about different types of games — 2D, 3D, VR, FPS, platformers, pixel art, puzzles, RPGs… the list goes on. Inspired and curious, I made my first game called Night KP Cubes (yep, still proud of it). [Download Link Here]

Turning Passion Into Published Projects

Soon, I was creating more things. I published my first drum app on the Play Store [Link] and then an endless 2D runner called Ghost Runner [Link].

I thought I’d start making lots of money instantly... but reality hit. I learned that earning through ads means understanding things like CPM (Cost Per Mille) and ad impressions. I researched everything I could for a whole month. I didn’t give up — just pivoted.

My First Real Paycheck 💰

That’s when I had another idea: why not contribute to the developer community by making game assets?

So I uploaded my first asset on the Unity Asset Store. In the first month, I got 1,200 views... and zero downloads. Ouch.

But I didn’t quit.

I completely remade the asset to match AAA industry quality, poured in weeks of work, and re-uploaded it.

And then it happened — in the second month, I got my first revenue: $9.99.

It wasn’t much, but that was my first ever income — the result of my skills and hard work. Today, that asset earns me about $6 a month. Not a fortune, but it’s passive income, and for a kid in class 11, it felt amazing.

Merostore Studios Is Born 🎮

Motivated by this, I started publishing more assets and games. Eventually, I founded my own small indie game studio: Merostore Studios [Link].

From dreaming of being a millionaire as a kid, to earning my first dollars doing something I love — the journey taught me so much more than money ever could.

Fast Forward to Today...

Now, I’m an engineering student at Kathmandu University, still learning every day, growing every day, and building my way toward bigger dreams. I don’t have everything figured out — but one thing’s for sure:

I’ll never stop learning. The journey has just begun.

Thanks for reading! I hope my story inspires you to chase your passion, no matter how small the first step may seem.
